Tony Dean Smith

A recipient of the Directors Guild of Canada “Kickstart” grant and an award- winning film school graduate, Tony Dean’s first 35mm short film, Reflection, played in numerous festivals, taking home a first prize award and earning five Leo Award nominations (including best picture and director). His television directing credits include the comedy series Health Nutz, three episodes of CTV’s Robson Arms and numerous visually rich music videos and short films. Tony has also garnered acclaim as an award-winning film and television editor, with jury prizes from the Toronto International Film Festival and more. He has edited for 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, NBC, Syfy and is currently editing for Neill Blomkamp. As a screenwriter, he has numerous projects in development, and is the recipient of the Super Channel Super Catalyst Screenwriting Award for The Sensational, a fantasy/adventure screenplay that he co-wrote with his creative partner and brother, Ryan W. Ryan W. Smith

An Austin Film Festival Semifinalist for his historical, South Africa-based thriller, Jacaranda, Ryan is a screenwriter for film and television, living in Vancouver, Canada. Ryan has written in a variety of genres and formats, from dramatic feature films, to episodic television. Having recently written an animated feature for Xi’an Momo, a China-based media company, Ryan serves as Senior Story Editor/Writer for YTV’s ReBoot: The Guardian Code. Previously, Ryan served as Supervising-producer on Netflix/YTV’s Some Assembly Required, and as Senior Executive Story Editor on Disney/YTV’s, Mr. Young. Between the above two series, Ryan has written on over 135 episodes of television, and received two Leo Awards. In addition, Ryan holds the Super Channel Emerging Screenwriter Award, for The Sensational, a fantasy/adventure feature he co-wrote with his creative partner and brother, Tony Dean Smith.
